Our Story
Cabin & Hound began with a little dog named Trousers.
He came into my life at just three weeks old as a tiny rescue puppy. I was working in a veterinary clinic at the time, and from the moment this little, not particularly healthy puppy arrived, he became mine.
Trousers was gentle, quiet and happiest simply being close. He came everywhere with me, travelled with me, shared every version of home with me and, over the years, became woven into the fabric of my life.
As he grew older, what I thought of as “luxury” began to change.
Severe arthritis meant medications, injections and constantly finding new ways to keep him comfortable while allowing him to remain part of everyday life. A mattress moved onto the floor when jumping from the bed was no longer safe. A carrier meant he could still come on bike rides and experience the outdoors. Campervan adventures continued. Winters meant finding better ways to keep him warm.
And every product I chose for him became a balance of comfort, quality, function and beauty.
That was when an idea quietly began to form.
Why shouldn’t the things designed to make our dogs’ lives easier also belong beautifully in our homes?
Why should mobility and comfort products feel purely clinical?
Why can’t thoughtful design consider both the animal using something and the home it becomes part of?
Trousers taught me that good design for our dogs is about far more than appearance. It is about helping them remain comfortable, included, independent and close to us through every stage of their lives.
Eventually another tiny toy poodle, Pedro, joined our family and became Trousers’ little companion. Today, Pedro continues to be a very willing representative of the Cabin & Hound philosophy - although perhaps with slightly stronger opinions about the finer things in life.
Cabin & Hound is for dogs like Trousers.
For the puppies who deserve the very best beginning.

Trousers may no longer be beside me, but his influence remains woven into Cabin & Hound.
